NEVER say “YES TO ALL” when downloading Software Programs or Drivers.
When you go to a Web Site to download something, you may find it daunting to answer the 10-15 questions about whether you want to download this or download that.
NEVER say “Yes to All”. (It is a check box).
Although it may seem easier to check this box rather than to read every question and have to make a conscious decision, whenever you say “Yes to All”, most often you are allowing “other” programs to be downloaded which have nothing to do with the original program or driver you were trying to acquire.
These “other” programs (which pay the primary Web Site and originator of the program for this privilege), “piggy back” other programs which often contain Malware, which do things like install unrelated programs into your start-up folder which cause your computer to slow down considerably. They sometimes even re-direct you to “Coupon Web Sites” which will annoy you forever and interfere with your ability to properly search the Internet.
Often, these other programs introduce viruses, which can cause functional difficulties, and then send you to Web Sites which offer relief for these malfunctions, of course for a price. This is the underlying scheme of why they pay* to “piggy back” in the 1st place. In the end, they want to charge you to stop your computer from malfunctioning which they were the primary cause of. Nice, huh?
The next time you download anything, please take the time to read each question carefully and make a conscious decision regarding whether you want or don’t want a particular program on your computer.
Without question, the 15 minutes spent reading these “download” questions and making intelligent decisions regarding what you actually wish to introduce your computer to, will save you 10’s of hours later trying to “unscrew” the mistakes you just made.
